But thankfully, other than school drop-off and shopping for the necessities, I don't really have any place that I need to be this week, so I'm enjoying the comfort zone of my home.
And lucky for me, home is a pretty great place to be.
Our garden is coming along nicely. The rain might be a bit dismal for us humans, but the plants seem to be loving it...
We've already been enjoying the fruit of the land: fresh lettuce and spinach for salads and fresh cilantro for salsa.
It looks like the strawberries won't be too far behind.
A little perspective shot - this fence separates our land from the neighbours. If we hadn't had cows munching away in our pasture, our grass would be just as tall.
And when it comes to my comfort zone, this little dude is right at the centre of it.
Kids can be brutally honest (like when Micah greeted me with, "Hey Cold-Sore Face!" the other day)...
But they're also the first to look past your flaws and love you... just because.
Oh man, I just lost it with Micah's comment/greeting. One time last year my piano student (who I hadn't seen in 3 weeks asked, "is that sore on your lip STILL there?" Really lovely farm photos too - your kids are so lucky.

Boo to cold sores. You are beautiful Jamie. Those cold sores have nothing on you. I am a big fan of you!
ReplyDeleteYour cows seriously eat a lot!!! I think I should get a cow; then Craig would never have to cut the lawn.
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree with Rosanna. Sorry Jamie, you are the only one of my kids, that I gave coldsores to. Mom.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a nice place to hide out! I love reading about your new life on the farm. Feel better soon. :(
ReplyDeleteLove that last picture - he's such a cutie! And how true...they just keep loving us, no matter how often we mess up or look a wreck. Truly a picture of God's love, right?
ReplyDeleteI agree with Rosanna!
ReplyDeleteI'm a coldsore hater too (worst one for me was waking up the morning before my wedding day with that tell-tale tingly feeling on my lip). I recently tried the Lysine capsules and they worked like nothing else! As in...start taking 3 capsules, 3 times a day as soon as you feel it coming and it's stopped in its tracks! I did find that I got more of them in a season once I started using the Lysine. BUT, if you have an important date (say, a wedding) that you don't want one showing up for, it can be a great solution. Also works for preventing it if you know something is coming up... (sorry if this sounds like an ad...Lysine is not paying me to tell you this! I just remember wishing that I could find a "miracle cure" and this is as close as I've come to date so I thought I'd share!)
ReplyDeleteThanks Niki - I picked up Lysine the other day and I plan to try it next time around. I ended up taking valtrex (a prescription med) and it has definitely helped clear them up a lot faster than normal (and should keep me cold sore free for a while!)
