11 months

Yesterday Keziah turned 11 months old! That means in only one month she will be one year old already! Crazy.

Keziah is definitely an expert crawler now and is getting the hang of pulling herself up. I've mentioned before that she has been a tough baby these last several months. I've concluded that part of the problem is that she hasn't been easily pacified by the things that worked with Micah - i.e. the soother, and Baby Einstein videos. She'll take her soother for sleeping but otherwise wants nothing to do with it (which I know I will be thankful for in the long run). But, thankfully she has finally started to show an interest in Baby Einstein. It sounds bad that I should want my child to watch TV so badly, but when 4 o'clock rolls around, it is music to my ears! Here she is getting in some Baby Mozart the other day:

Also, I have decided that having two kids is more than double the work - at least with my kids. Yesterday morning Erik took Micah for breakfast and Keziah played happily by herself for that whole hour. But as soon as Micah came home he was in her face and making her cry. She screams if he just looks at her funny. And, of course, Micah loves the reaction :p

(Even though Keziah doesn't care for her soother, she's likes to crawl around with her razbaby teether in her mouth!)

Keziah also loves to fill her diaper in the middle of the night lately. Three nights in a row last week she cried out in the night and I was greeted with a lovely odour as I entered her room. I don't mind a quick midnight diaper change now and then, but when she is ready to get up and play for the next couple of hours, I get a little bit frustrated.

Now I have a birthday party dilemma: Keziah and Micah's birthdays are only 3 weeks apart, and Micah's birthday only shortly before Christmas. I think I would like to have a party but I don't want to plan 2. I'm thinking of having a joint party this year. Any suggestions?

That's all for today. We have all come down with an annoying cold this week and for some reason Micah has decided that 5:30 is his new wake-up time :( What happens when the time changes and he's getting up at 4:30?!? Yikes. I guess we'll cross that bridge when we get to it...

Happy 11 Months Keziah!!! Wow, only one more month and she's a YEAR - it's FLOWn by, hey?
I love the pictures of her - she is so darling and cute!
I hope you're able to decide what to do about the birthdays. Combining them may be less work in some ways, but more work in others, unless you just keep it to family? I don't know...sorry I don't really have a helpful suggestion!

Wow! Graham is 4 months old today, and I too wonder where the time has gone!! I can't believe your "baby" is almost one! As for birthday party suggestions, don't really have any, except to say I would combine it now while it doesn't really matter to either one of them. Later, when they're older, I'm sure they won't be wanting to share a birthday party and then you'll be stuck with doing two, even so close together! So, while you can, keep the work load down!! Hope your colds go away and that Micah sleeps a little better. What an awful start to the day, if you're waking up at 5:30!

I can't believe she is almost a year! Wow. For the birthday parties - if you are just doing family one combined sounds like the easiest thing for you and your budget ;-) Traditionally I think we make a bigger deal out of the 1st b-day than subsequent ones - but that is more for us parents than the babies as they don't know the difference!

Oh man about 5:30 wake up time! I don't think I would survive! I hope it is a short lived thing - feel better from your colds!

Once again great pictures of Keziah! It is hard to believe that she's almost one!! Hearing your stories about two kids is good birth control for me, hahaha. It's sort of feeling "easy" right now(watch me eat my words in the next few days). Perhaps I shouldn't be thinking of tampering with a good thing? :D

The time sure does fly by - faster with each child I think. I think I'll try the baby Einstein with Rylan again too - he's actually gotten more fussy since he can crawl and follow me around the house and that 4 o'clock hour - let me tell you - ANYTHING - for a bit of peace is well worth it! Combining parties is a great idea -it, unlike two kids, isn't more than double the work!

She looks so much like Micah.
We love our RazBaby... although its been lost :-(

I was going to say that Caleb does beat on Taite some. But its usually when hes jealous or Taites doing something Caleb thinks is "bad" like "touching the TV screen"

Most of the time hes very loving... but I know the days are coming when all they will do is fight. :-)

The time change is something I have been thinking about too wondering How to keep Isaiah on his schedule because he sleeps best that way.
The raspberry teether is a favorite in our house too. It's the one thing Isaiah like to chew on the most.
My sister and I were 2 years and 10 days apart. We fought like cats and dogs so much as kids. It wasn't until she went to Bethany that I started to appreciate her rather than seeing her as the older sibling who always pushed my buttons. I wonder if having 3 or 4 kids really does seem easier in the end rather than just 2 becasue you made it through 2?

Happy 11 months Keziah!! Noah is a HUGE fan of his Razbaby teether too, absolutely loves to put it in his mouth and suck on it like his susu...I wish he didn't like the soother quite as much...BUT...he is ADDICTED!!! Keziah is such a beautiful baby, also! I'm sorry to hear that her and Micah are havin' a bit of a rough go....I'm sure it will get better though. Sorry also to hear that you guys are all sick, that's no fun...Get better soon!

Hey, Jamie.
We have a similar situation to you - Ezra's birthday is 20 days before Kala's. We did two parties this year, and we'll never invite that many people again! It was fun, and we were blessed with beautiful days in April and May, but it was a lot of people. Our backyard became a play-place, with some friends offering their huge blow-up bouncer and our toys taking up the whole yard. We served simple snacks, and had a few different flavours of ice cream available, since Ezra prefers that to cake, and I think there were 17 kids there, ranging from 1 year to 10 years - YIKES! Super fun, though! Kala's was simplified, by inviting all of our "family" - adopted uncles, aunties, and cousins. And, of course, we had chocolate cake with chocolate icing - a first-birthday-must. Good luck to you as you plan these special days.
I wish I had more time to spend on Blogger. I'm so out of touch.

wow! birthdays already!! i feel for you that you have to think about parties around Christmas! but in the coming years, that might be fun too...i have no advice for birthday parties since mine tend to be very very boring! i think next year we'll try something more "planned".
i just have to say that i love hearing that Erik takes Micah out for breakfast! i'm gonna recommend that to Rodney. what a great way to connect!! :)
love you guys!

We have three April birthdays within 12 days. ...I am so full of cake and leftover cake by the end of April! And in Peru, celebration is a big deal. It was exhausting. Yup, I'd say celebrate together until it makes a significant difference to Micah and Keziah and their friends. Once we had three pinatas. Once the big cake was divided in three parts by fences and decorated accordingly. Love you, A.Shirley

My kids birthdays are 4 weeks apart and I have done a combined birthday parties the past few years. It works out fine. A few of each of their friends and family. Instead of doing a theme I do colors, pink/blue purple/green and just stick with that.

Do the parties near Keziah's bday so you don't feel pressured by Christmas time.

Hope you can work something out.

i would so do a joint party. The amount of work it takes to throw one party, i would LOVE to be able to only do it once a year!
I would pick a gender friendly theme and have fun with it. I love being creative with the party themes

I'm up usually around that same time with James - too bad we can't just hang out together until the sun comes up! I keep wondering about the time change too - ACK! What will happen to the schedule...

Happy 11 months Keziah! James loves his razbaby too.
