Heaven

Today marks another year since Erik's brother Nathan was taken from his earthly family. There's not a day that goes by that we don't remember him or feel affected by what happened on that day. It's forever changed us. It will always be a marking point in our lives. We refer to things in terms of whether it happened before the accident or after the accident. It is an event that is irrevocably stamped in our history. And we still wish it wasn't so.

But there is a bigger picture. A greater story. And as much as I know in my heart that Heaven and Jesus and all of it is real, I think it can still feel very distant and disconnected from the here and now.

But then I read this book. In fact Erik and I both read it in less than 24 hours.
It wasn't hard.

It has really affected me since then... in a really good way. And I love what God spoke to me through it all - that God hears our prayers... that he really, REALLY loves us... and that Heaven is a real, tangible place. More than ever, it makes us want to be there and see Nathan again, but even more than that - to meet Jesus face to face.

Thinking of you guys, especially today. Someone else recommended this book recently. Sounds like its worth the read. Praying for God's continued hand of peace in your lives as you remember Nate.

Every time I hear "I Can Only Imagine" I remember clearly the Easter Sunday Nate sang this beautiful song. Today he is "walking by His side", for this we must rejoice, however sometimes this is easier said than done. Thinking of you and your families today.

Thanks Jamie for your post. Our remembering began yesterday already but extends today as we remember together with you. You are right, we aren't the same people we used to be. And we still miss him so much. We will keep telling Nathan stories to the next generation so they will have an understanding, though incomplete, of how much he meant to us. We love you all.

Have you read "90 mins in heaven" by Don Piper? I LOVED it. It's similar to this book. I think you would really like it. Thinking of your whole family today!

Love the book. It really helps one in their grief of the loss of a loved one when they read this book. I find myself yearning for eternity more and being aware that I have many around me who need to hear about eternity and Jesus. I don't want them to miss out on life with Jesus.

Thinking of you guys today!
