Flying Solo

Yesterday afternoon Erik left for the weekend with his dad and brothers to play in the Alumni Hockey Tournament at Bethany College in Saskatchewan. It would've been fun if we could've all gone as a family, but the idea of a long drive with the two kids in the wintertime didn't really excite me :)

So, I'm all alone with the kids until Monday afternoon! It seems like a long time but thankfully the rest of the Toews women will be around for back-up!

We helped Daddy pack his bag yesterday before he left. At one point Erik left the room and I told him I had found something he needed to bring. When he came back into the bedroom he found this cute little package in his duffle bag:

Micah was a bit big for the duffle bag, but I thought maybe I could sneak him into the trunk for the trip...

Well... No such luck but Erik said he would definitely miss the little guy. Do you like their matching buzz-cuts?

I wasn't sure how this morning would go. Micah is used to getting up and eating breakfast with his Daddy. Erik usually lets me sleep until he has to leave for work. This morning Micah decided to get up promptly at 6! Thankfully he's in a good mood this morning and hasn't asked for Daddy too much!

Can your kids get ANY cuter? And you are looking fine yourself in those last pictures :) Have a great weekend..I'm sure you'll be posting all about it! And yes, in answer to your question on my blog Hailey crams all of those things into her bed with her. It's a miracle. At least now I've weaned her off of EACH.STUFFED.ANIMAL. needing their own blanket!

You can do it! :-) I was alone last week for 4 days... was a longggg 4 days but I think I needed it to begin to feel like "an in control mommy" haha. I was having a hard time adjusting... REALLY hard time. And I really believe God used this time alone with my two boys to help me see the blessing he has given me. Even though it wasnt easy... I wont lie.. it was a joy. Still I am glad Travis is back hehe.

Love the lil packages. SO cute

Let me know how the wkd goes- I am without Dan ALL week this next week! AHHH!!! And I don't have the "Toews girls" around for support like you!!! AHH! I wish we could have a play date- I think Jake and Micah could really cause some mischief together!

I really wished I could have gone to see everyone again but I was working this weekend and so, Saskatoon was not an option. But at least a few of us went (besides, if you don't play hockey, it doesn't make as much sense).

Hi Jamie,
In the spirit of de-lurking ... just wanted to say hi. I found you through, of course, Kelly Ens. :) I've peeked at your blog a few times and now I'm hooked. I have the same template so it's kinda weird seing somebody else's kids on it. My kiddos are close in age to yours (my 2.5 year old even has the same rooster tail! He has a double crown so he's doomed to sticky-uppy hair forever.) I love reading your stories of this incredible phase of life we find ourselves in. I'll be back to hear about your big solo weekend. One more sleep!
